Provenance
Born in Itano- cho, Itano -gun, Tokushima Prefecture . After entering Naruto Technical High School, he joined the judo club as there were no karate or kenpo clubs, and obtained a 2nd dan from the Kodokan . After graduating from high school, he moved to Tokyo and entered Tokyo University of Science , but soon dropped out. On August 28, 1967, while he was working at a factory, he entered Kyokushin Kaikan Hombu Dojo and studied under Masutatsu Oyama . Hasegawa was 165 cm tall, but when he saw Noboru Osawa , who was smaller than himself , he was inspired to practice.
On March 8 , 1969 (Showa 44), he was granted the first dan ( black belt ) . Although he advanced to the final league match at the 1st Open Tournament All Japan Karatedo Championships in the same year, Terutomo Yamazaki lost one roundhouse kick , and was defeated by Giji Soeno by decision , placing 3rd. won a prize. After that, he became a headquarter instructor, but he admired Hideyuki Ashihara and even went to the Ashihara Dojo in Shikoku to practice.
1970 (Showa 45) At the 2nd All Japan Championship, he won Katsuaki Sato in the second round with a roundhouse kick in the upper left row, winning by one, and progressing smoothly, and advanced to the final league again. He had a rematch with Yamazaki and Soeno, defeating both to take his first win . However, after the closing, the rule that “if you throw down your opponent and decide, you will win by ippon “ became a problem . Hasegawa won Yamazaki by “getting entangled and stopping the lower straight fist on the face”, and Soeno also won by “rolling down and deciding lower punch” . In other games, there were too many similar “lower thrusts to knock down”, and I was worried that this would become a pattern . The rules were amended so that even a single action with a smooth flow without any waste is ” up to the skill “ .
In 1970 (Showa 45), after the 2nd All Japan Championship, he retired from championships and returned to Tokushima Prefecture . In the same year, he established the Kyokushinkaikan Tokushima branch.
Since 1978, he has also served as the head of the branch in Aichi Prefecture , and currently teaches as an instructor at Kyokushin Kaikan Hasegawa Dojo. He also served as chairman of the Kyokushin Federation , which was formed in 2001 with Daigo Oishi and Yasuhiro Kuwashima .
In 1999 (Heisei 11), he received the Social and Cultural Achievement Award from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Culture .
In 2008 , he served as a special referee at the World Kumitekai Championships held in Thailand .
2012 (Heisei 24) In November , he withdrew from the All Japan Kyokushin Federation and established the International Karatedo Federation Kyokushin Kaikan Sekai Sokyokushin with Daigo Oishi and became its representative.
2014 (Heisei 26) In November , promoted to 9th Dan.
In February 2019 , he withdrew from Sekai Sokyokushin and established the International Karatedo Federation Kyokushin Kaikan Sekai Zenkyokushin and became its general manager. In September of the same year, together with his comrades, he established the “Kyokushin Kaikan Branch Masters Association”, which is composed of branch masters who received permission while Masutatsu Oyama was alive .
